What is aromatherapy?!

It’s the practice of using the natural oils extracted from flowers, stems, leaves, roots or other parts of a plant to enhance psychological and physical well-being.

The inhaled aroma from these “essential“ oils is widely believed to stimulate brain function.

Essential oils also can be absorbed through the skin, where they travel through the blood stream and can promote whole body healing.

Also aromatherapy is considered as a form of alternative therapy as it is used for a variety of applications including pain relief, mood enhancement and increased cognitive functions.

Practitioners of aromatherapy believe that aromatherapy oils have medicinal benefits including antidepressant and antibacterial properties and plenty in between.

Also essential oils can trigger physical and emotional effects on their own.

Each of essential oils have a wide spectrum of benefits, for example:

Lavender oil is the best to use as calming agent and blending ylang ylang oil with grapefruit relieves stress.

  • Rose oil: the queen of oils to help with all stress issues
  • Frankincense oil: have a very strong attractive aroma, helps to relax, decrease fear and grief and promote healthy proper breathing.
  • Lavender oil: one of the most used oils in aromatherapy. Considered as a calming agent, help to sleep and relieve insomnia. It also build solidarity and strength. Used also in massage to relax and relieve muscle tension.
  • Ylang ylang oil: it is drawn from “ Cananga odorata “ tree. The aroma of this oil have the ability to fight depression and relax both of the body and soul, thereby driving away anxiety, sadness and chronic stress.
  • Bergamot oil: the use of bergamot aromatherapy preparations help lessen stress and anxiety and help relieve depression.
  • Majoram oil: the aroma of this oil is useful for all types of tension and muscle spasms.
  • Vertiver oil: the oil used mostly to give the special odor of soap, shampoos and other cosmetics products. It have a strong effect on mood and mind. It act as calming agent, help to restore balance, relieve stress and relieve general fatigue.

  • Put your favorite oil in a warm bath to help you relax after a long working day.

  • Put a few drops of any essential oil in your laundry for an all natural fragrance.
  • Keep a small sample of your favorite oil in your working place and in your car and enjoy activity and calm in all times.
  • Use aromatherapy in your yoga practice “ lavender is the most preferred “
  • Diffuse some of lavender, ylang ylang or germanium oil on your pillow to help you sleep well.
