This analysis Article talking about the product: The Original Digestive biscuits.

I, like many others, I consider that the original Digestive biscuits are the perfect choice for a healthy low-fat diet as it is made from whole wheat. Sadly, I have realized that it is not the best option, since I've been doing some research on the components. I think it deserves 3 out of 5 stars in terms of how healthy it is, and the reason for that will be addressed throughout this article.

  • Each Digestive biscuit contains 70 calories. But do we only eat one? Probably not! Eating 10 biscuits of Digestive will be equal in calories to eating two full meals of breakfast and lunch combined! Will you rely on biscuits only and give up those two important meals? I don’t think so.
  • Each biscuit contains 3 grams of fat. The fat used in this product  is palm oil, although it is a 100% natural fat, and despite the fact that it is one the best fats with little saturation, it is still not considered healthy. According to nutrition experts at Harvard, the danger is that during the manufacturing process palm oil is heated to very high degrees, a substance known as fatty acid esters result from this overheating, it was noted that this substance has caused swelling in the blood vessels and the heart, especially when taken repetitively and over extended periods of time.

  • Every biscuit also contains 2.5 grams of sugar, which is a really high percentage!
  • It also contains chemical additives (malic and ammonium bicarbonate), which are used in the fermentation of the dough, but their side effects cause some digestive disorders. Even though they are not considered hazardous substances, it is not recommended to be eaten often as it disturbes the digestive system.
  • On a more positive note,  Digestive benefits lie in the fact that it's whole wheat food, and the rest of the other materials that go into the baking and packaging process are also safe.

We must note that what applies to the original Digestive biscuits, also applies to other types of Digestive, but with some subtle differences.

for example:

- Digestive chocolate contains a larger proportion of saturated fat.

- Digestive light, although low in fat compared to other Digestive products, the sugar content in it is bigger than the original Digestive.

- All kinds of Digestive products contains sodium ratio of 44% percent for each biscuit.

So what do you think? Does Digestive deserve 3 out of 5 stars?

Tell us what you think! we will be pleased with your participation in the comments section below.
