You might be surprised to know that there are many types of vinegar. The most common vinegars are white vinegar, apple cider vinegar and balsamic vinegar.
What is vinegar? Vinegar is made from any food that contains natural sugars. Yeast ferments these sugars into alcohol and certain types of bacteria convert that alcohol into acetic acid. Acetic acid is what gives vinegar its distinct tart taste.
It should be noticed that the commercial vinegars lack the subtle flavors found in true vinegars. Always choose natural vinegar as it doesn’t contain any additives or industrial colorants.
